Glen Foster Bio
Glen Foster a.k.a. “That Canadian Guy”
Glen Foster has been one of the top comedians in Canada for nearly thirty years. A mainstay on the Canadian circuit, Glen didn’t just work the road, he’s one of the comics who built it. Glen continues to tour regularly and this recently made his eighth appearance at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival. (The show will be broadcast on CBC’s “Just for Laughs” during the upcoming television season.)
Glen’s comedy is clever, intelligent and generally clean. His act combines reflections on his own personal experiences, with razor sharp commentary on current events and popular culture. Though his material can be a bit dark, and occasionally “politically incorrect”, he approaches even delicate subjects in an affable and disarming way. As Glen himself says, “This is edgy comedy… but it’s coming from a guy who has no edges”.
Glen is also a popular corporate entertainer, performing regularly at conventions, golf tournaments and other business and charity functions. He relates well to a wide range of audiences and he always tries to do at least a couple of jokes that are specific to the group or function. He can also write / incorporate more custom tailored material on request.
In addition to CBC’s “Just for Laughs”, Glen has starred in two Comedy Network specials and appeared on numerous other television shows. He is a guest contributor to Canada’s Sun News Network and he can be heard frequently on the popular CBC Radio show “The Debaters”. Glen has released a concert DVD (Shot At The Empire) as well as three CDs. His latest being, “Prickly: Live at The Rose Theatre.”
“That Canadian Guy” is a reference to Glen’s first network comedy special, during which he joked about the fact people could call him, “That Canadian Guy” if they couldn’t remember his name. Sure enough, after the show aired, Glen received a flood of e-mail, from viewers who said, “I couldn’t remember your name, but I remembered “That Canadian Guy.”
