Ben Mathai Bio

Ben Mathai won a Yuk Yuk’s comedy competition the first time he stepped onstage!

To further hone his comedic skills, he began studying with the Second City Improv Troupe. Ben won the Just For Laughs Home-Grown Competition in Hamilton, a contest where the best of up-and-coming comedians from each major Canadian city was selected to perform for the top prize. He then moved on to showcase at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.

His television credits include a feature documentary, “The Changing Faces of Comedy” which showcased his stand-up career. He also featured his stand-up on the TORONTO SHOW.

He has performed at the New York IMPROV in New York City. Other memorable performances include a set for The Most Races Show On Earth at the Panasonic Theatre. Along with being featured in the Just For Laughs Festival, Ben also performed at the St. John Comedy Festival and was part of the Gala at the Sudbury Comedy Festival.

Ben produced his first major comedy show The South Asian Comedy Showcase at the elegant Isabel Bader Theatre in downtown Toronto. Due to overwhelming demand, he did the show for two more years to sold out audiences and is currently in the process of producing and headlining more shows.
